2. Matching Gifts Often you can multiply the impact of a gift if you are an employee, retiree, or director of a company that matches gifts to qualified institutions. Please contact your company’s personnel office for information regarding their matching gifts program.
3. Gifts of Appreciated Securities Gifts of publicly traded stock or securities create not only a way to support The Prestonwood Foundation, but also certain tax advantages to the donor. Highly appreciated, long-term securities (those held more than one year) qualify for a two-fold tax savings, generating a deduction on your federal income tax return and an exemption from capital gains taxes. Short-term securities (items held less than one year) are considered ordinary income property by the Internal Revenue Service, and a charitable deduction may be taken only for the original cost of the securities. To ensure an efficient transfer of your gift, you or your broker can contact a member of our team, and as always, you should notify your current tax advisor.
4. Gifts of Real Estate and Personal Property In some cases The Prestonwood Foundation can accept gifts of residential and commercial properties, homes, ranches, farms, oil and gas properties, and certain personal property. The tax benefits for gifts of appreciated real estate are similar to those for gifts of appreciated securities.
Pledges The Prestonwood Foundation accepts pledge payments over a period of several years to allow for the budgeting of substantial gifts. |
